  1. Golden Section - Division of a line or a rectangle (such as a picture frame) according to fixed proportions, so that the ratio of the smaller part to the larger is the same as that of the larger to the whole. Widely regarded as being aesthetically satisfying, particularly in Classical Greek culture and during the Renaissance.
